Alister Frayling, MBA, CTech
Role on Team: Principal / Project Manager / EMS Specialist
Management Experience
Mr. Frayling has been responsible for managing an extensive range of environmental investigations, field survey projects, contaminated site investigations, environmental management system development, implementation and auditing, and compliance auditing. Comprehensive management experience includes financial budgeting and proposals, client and regulatory liaisons, project administration and budgetary control, the design of multi-disciplinary investigations and field surveys, logistical planning and scheduling, project staffing, sub-contractor procurements, co-ordination and supervision of field operations, progress reporting to clients, and final project reports including project reports.
Technical/Scientific Experience
Active as a consultant since 1990, Mr. Frayling has a diverse range of environmental investigation and project management experience. In the environmental sector, Mr. Frayling has been responsible in Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia for managing projects, ranging from due diligence assessments of real estate (Stage 1 & 2 Preliminary Site Investigations and Detailed Site Investigations), including planning for remediation of contaminated sites, liaisons and reporting to provincial and federal regulatory agencies, auditing for regulatory compliance and EMS review, development and streamlining. Typical projects have included First Nations development, marine foreshore areas, Crown lease sites, and residential-commercial-industrial-institutional real estate, on locations ranging from remote wild lands to downtown urban properties. Other completed works include development of industrial landfill sites, closure of landfills, site storm water management, waste management disposal and reuse options, water quality assessment development and monitoring, development of Environmental Management Systems and strategic environmental advising.
Adam Mabbott, B.Sc., P.Chem, AscT, A.Ag.
Role on Team: Project Manager / Environmental Scientist
Management Experience
Mr. Mabbott has been responsible for managing an extensive range of multi-team environmental investigation and remediation projects for the commercial, industrial, and government sectors. His management experience include comprehensive project design and planning, budget control, Client and regulatory liason, staffing, data collection, co-ordination and supervision of field operations, and the completion of project reports. Recently, Mr. Mabbott was the responsible member as lead environmental consultant and Client contact on a large scale Brownfield development in Alberta with a final sale value in excess of one billion dollars.
Technical/Scientific Experience
Active in the environmental industry since 2003, Mr. Mabbott has gained a diverse range of environmental investigation and project management experience. He has been responsible for a multitude of soil and groundwater remediation projects, including excavations, soil vapour extractions, groundwater pump and treat systems, and in-situ chemical oxidation. Adam is well versed with data collection for all chemicals of concern, and has extensive experience dealing with petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, salts, methane, and PCBs. Adam has a strong chemical and technical background conducting data analyses and quality control, and utilizing those strengths to design effective sampling programs.
Blair Irwin, B.Sc, P.Ag.
Role on Team: Environmental Technologist
Management Experience
Mr. Irwin has developed, implemented and managed an ISO9000 system, including training of individuals, and performing QA system audits.
Technical/Scientific Experience
Mr. Irwin has completed several Stage I site investigations. Stage 1 site investigations consist of site visits, the identification of areas of potential environmental impact and potential contaminants of concern, personnel interviews, air photo analysis, historical reviews, regulatory reviews, and report authoring. Mr. Irwin has assisted in the development and implementation of Stage II site investigations. These investigations require developing drilling plans, supervising drilling activities on site, performing soil and water sampling, interpretation of results, and development of recommendations into final reports. He has also developed and written operational plans for a Hazard Waste Facility, as well as liaising with the Ministry of Environment and engineering firms in developing site expansion plans for the facility. Mr. Irwin has developed and written closure plans for Select Waste Landfill. Mr Irwin has experience in dealing with emergency spill responses, completing on-site assessments, developing control and abatement procedures, and directing remediation contractors.
Erich Bell, AScT
Role on Team: Environmental Technologist
Management Experience
Mr. Bell has managed several small to medium-sized spill response events. He has been responsible for liaising with clients and regulatory bodies to ensure work proceeds following the applicable regulations. His experience includes the design of investigations and field surveys, financial budgeting, logistical planning and scheduling, client and regulatory liaisons, sub-contractor procurements, co-ordination and supervision of field operations, progress reporting to clients, and final project reports.
Technical/Scientific Experience
Mr. Bell has extensive experience in the area of contaminated sites monitoring and remediation. He has been responsible for collecting water and soil samples and supervising drilling/excavation operations for well installations and test pit sampling. He has also operated various types of field sampling equipment, including water level meters, PID and YSI meters, submersible electric pumps, and GPS mapping units. Laboratory experience includes analysis of soil and vegetative samples for the presence of contaminants. He is familiar with the collection and analyzing of air quality sample data, completing projects for the City of Victoria and Nanaimo. He has completed geographical surveys, baseline inventorying, and photopoint monitoring, and created digital maps using ARCInfo. He has also developed erosion and sediment control plans for construction projects, in addition to environmental monitoring for selected projects.
Robyn Bishop, AD
Role on Team: Office Manager
Administrative Experience
Ms. Bishop has developed excellent organizational and communication skills through her experiences in both customer service and music education. She excels at multitasking and thrives in a busy work environment.
Technical/Scientific Experience
Ms. Bishop has strong computer skills, especially in MS Word and Excel, through her work in organizing and formatting various project files. She is adept in document editing and review for formatting and consistency, and is required to combine files from several different electronic formats into a single document for final printing, binding, and submission to the client. Ms. Bishop is also responsible for ordering Land Titles and Air Photos for Environmental reports. In addition, Ms. Bishop is also involved in accounting procedures, including creating and managing invoices and working in Simply Accounting. She is also responsible for phone and email correspondence with clients, as well as writing letters and memos. She also maintains a BC forest safety plan for the company.
Kelly Schellenberg, BScF, RPF, QEP
Role on Team: Senior Professional
Management Experience
Mrs. Schellenberg has extensive experience as a contractor and staff person for local government and the public and private sector. She also has experience within the forestry sector, including invasive plant management, silviculture, First Nations and public consultation, liaison with Regulatory agencies, harvest planning and site inspections, development of operational plans, and preparation of reports.
Mrs. Schellenberg is a certified BCTS ISO 14001 EMS trainer with extensive knowledge and practical experience. She has conducted over 45 separate EMS training sessions with loggers, silviculture workers and forest professionals, as well as a VIU (Nanaimo campus) EMS trainer. Shehas also trained forestry professionals and Ministry of Forests and Range administrative staff in timber pricing throughout the Coast Forest Region.
Mrs. Schellenberg has completed Riparian Areas Regulation assessments and letters of advice in several local government jurisdictions including: CVRD, NRD, Town of Ladysmith, District of North Cowichan Town of Lake Cowichan and District of HIghlands. She is proficient at evaluating official community plans and related bylaws and permitting processes.
Tyler Schon, TFT, B. Tech. Env. Eng., Dip. Tech. For.
Role on Team: Environmental / Forest Technologist
Management Experience
Mr. Schon has been responsible for managing an extensive range of multi-team forestry planning exercises. His management experience includes comprehensive harvesting design and planning, budget control, client and regulatory liaison, data collection, co-ordination and supervision of subcontractors, and the completion of project reports.
Technical/Scientific Experience
Active in the forestry industry since 2002, Mr. Schon has gained a diverse range of forestry planning and field experience in the coastal forest industry. As well he has acted as an Environmental monitor/technologist in various stream restoration projects and soil and groundwater remediation projects, including excavations, and groundwater pump and treat systems. Tyler is well versed in the field in regards to timber quality assessments, timber cruising, road location, bridge site locates, and stream assessments. Additionally Tyler has a strong technical / engineering background in regards to all methods of timber harvesting including grapple-yarders, towers, helicopters, hoe-chuck, and skidding. Mr. Schon has gained experience acting as an on-site Environmental Monitor on demolition, construction, and remediation projects by completing environmental site inspections, soil and groundwater sampling, developing and implementing monitoring programs, permitting and submission packages, liaison with regulatory agencies, site plans, mapping, and preparation of reports.

Sara Stallard, BSc, AScT has been an environmental technologist and consultant since 1998. She has extensive experience in conducting Stage I and II Preliminary Site Investigations (PSI), contaminated sites remediation, and water quality investigations.
Bob Symington, MSc, BSc (Hons)
Mr. Symington obtained his HONS. BSc. APPLIED EARTH SCIENCE from the University of Waterloo in 1979 and was registered as a Professional Geologist in the province of Alberta in 1983. Mr. Symington spent most of his career in petroleum exploration as President of Gandalf Exploration Consultants Ltd. During his 12 years in the oil patch Mr. Symington concentrated in well site geology and carbonate core studies and undertook contracts as project geologist in Bangladesh and Dubai.
Mr. Symington obtained his MSc. HYDROGEOLOGY in 1993, from the University College London, London, England and is currently the principal of Gandalf Consulting Ltd., Vancouver, BC, Canada. Mr Symington transferred his Professional Geologist designation to BC and is currently registered as a Professional Geoscientist in BC. Mr. Symington has acted in progressively responsible positions, undertaking a two year contract for a mining company working successfully toward a Water Licence in the Yukon territory, one year as project manager for a major engineering-environmental company concentrating in the downstream petroleum sector, and four years as manager of site investigations at an environmental consultancy which specialized in the forest sector. In April of 2000 Mr. Symington established Gandalf Consulting Ltd, (www.gandalfconsulting.bc.ca) an environmental consultancy offering services to industry in British Columbia and Washington State. In 2001 Mr. Symington obtained his licence to practice in the State of Washington as a Licensed Geologist and Hydrogeologist.

Mr. Symington is a member in good standing of the Roster of Professional Experts as appointed by the Director of the BC Ministry of the Environment and has authored or co- authored conference papers on the groundwater contaminant MTBE which have been published in Canada and Great Britain. Mr. Symington is the Past President of the British Columbia Environment Industry Association (BCEIA) www.bceia.com and was appointed to the Licensed Environmental Professional Sub-Committee Advisory Group set up by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Colombia. Mr. Symington is a founding director of the CSAP Society and re-elected to the Board of the Contaminated Sites Approved Professional Society in June 2009 and is the current Chair of the Performance Assessment Committee.
